QUALIFICATIONS | |
Required: Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma G.E.D. certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by State law. Hold certification or demonstrate advanced technical skills in one or more trade areas. Must be able to obtain and hold a C.D.L. Knowledge Of: Basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard to navigate computer e-mail and websites. Trade tools equipment materials methods and techniques used in skilled and general maintenance and repair involving; locksmith carpentry painting and welding. Appropriate health and safety precautions and procedures. Technical aspects of fields of specialty. Proper methods of storing equipment materials and supplies. Requirements of maintaining school buildings in a safe clean and orderly condition. Federal State and local building codes and regulations. | |
JOB DESCRIPTION | |
Job Summary: The primary duties will include the inventory management of the school district. This position is responsible for receiving storing organizing and distributing supplies materials and equipment for the school district. This position ensures accurate inventory management timely delivery of items to schools and departments and proper handling of district property. This position is also responsible for maintaining efficient warehouse operations and supports the districts daily operational needs while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Essential Functions Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain inventory and order materials as needed. Fill inventory requests timely. Conduct inventory counts of all items in the warehouse bi yearly. Document and maintain records accurately of items received. Ensure items are marked appropriately for their final destinations at corresponding schools. Maintain knowledge regarding warehouse items including instructional and custodial materials. Assist with deliveries as needed. Operate dump trucks tractors forklifts snow removal equipment and large lawn equipment and their transport from site to site used to maintain districts lawns grounds and athletic fields. Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal State and local codes regulations and requirements. Interpret explain and apply codes rules and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities. Operate light trucks to pick up and deliver equipment and supplies. Must observe legal and defensive driving practices and may operate a District vehicle. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Estimate labor and material costs and perform quick and accurate calculations. Work independently with little direction. Meet schedules and time lines. Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Daviess County Public Schools. | |

Work Environment: This position works primarily in a warehouse and distribution environment that supports district schools and departments. Duties are performed in both indoor and outdoor settings. This position is routinely exposed to varying weather conditions including heat cold rain and humidity while loading unloading and transporting materials. Portions of the work environment may not be temperature controlled. Physical Demands: 1. Routine light-moderate lifting using proper lifting techniques 2. Occasional heavy lifting using proper lifting techniques 3. Routinely reach bend stoop kneel push pull and carry 4. Occasional climbing using stools and ladders 5.
