Job Description:
The Field Operations Supervisor provides value-driven customer service by ensuring productive and efficient railcar repair operations at the site level. This role is responsible for leading a skilled workforce aligning site operations with customer expectations and executing strategic plans to meet production safety and quality goals.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead the team and foster a strong culture of Safety and Quality.
Actively support safety and quality initiatives including safety reviews compliance training audits and quality checks.
Maintain a visible presence by conducting daily site walks to monitor progress address issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Meet or exceed site performance goals such as repair turnaround time cost efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Ensure adequate staffing levels through effective recruitment training scheduling and workforce planning.
Manage employee work schedules to provide appropriate coverage while supporting work-life balance and customer needs.
Participate in safety and quality audits to ensure regulatory compliance and customer standards are maintained.
Maintain accurate railcar repair status reports and provide real-time updates to customers as required.
Complete weekly reports and KPI tracking including turnaround time productivity and cost metrics and communicate results to Regional Operations leadership.
Lead daily team huddles (toolbox talks) to review safety protocols daily goals and work priorities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives including implementation and maintenance of visual management processes.
Identify employee training needs and coordinate development activities with appropriate resources.
Ensure billing is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Oversee new hire onboarding including 30/60/90-day reviews and participation in Tank University training programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages and directs personnel at the site level.
Responsible for overall direction coordination and evaluation of employees.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws including interviewing hiring training performance management employee development discipline and conflict resolution.

Strong knowledge of safety protocols and quality control processes.

Ability to maintain and analyze operational financial and KPI reports.
Experience leading daily meetings and aligning team goals.
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and visual management tools.
Strong customer service orientation and ability to resolve customer concerns.
Accuracy in billing reporting and operational documentation.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelors Degree or some college preferred.
Previous supervisory or managerial experience required; field operations or railcar/manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Strong leadership organizational problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Demonstrated commitment to safety quality and operational excellence.
Working Conditions:
Ability to traverse the operations facility regularly.
Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
Willingness to work extended hours as business needs require.
