POSITION: A full-time instructional academic staff position is available in the Department of Geology and Environmental Science for the 2026-2027 academic year with a start date of August 17 2026. The official title for the position is Lecturer with a working title of Visiting Assistant Professor. This is a one-year appointment with salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS: A masters degree in the area of Geology and Environmental Science or Physical Geography from a regionally accredited institution is required. The following will be considered assets: Ph.D. A.B.D. evidence of successful teaching at the collegiate level and demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusiveness. Applicants must be work-authorized in the United States.
DUTIES: Teach the equivalent of 15 credits each semester as assigned (GEOL 106 Earth Science in the fall and spring semesters with the possibility of teaching an upper-division course during the spring in the content area of the successful candidates qualifications).
THE UNIT: The Department of Geology and Environmental Science offers a B.S. degree in Geology and Environmental Science. The department consists of six faculty and approximately seventy majors. Students may choose an emphasis in general geology hydrogeology and water chemistry dual degree geological engineering or environmental science. The department prides itself on a long tradition and central focus on collaborative student/faculty research. Laboratory facilities include a modern analytical geochemistry laboratory a 15-station petrography laboratory a hydrogeology/structure laboratory consisting of a 12-station computer laboratory with GIS and ground-water modeling software geophysical and hydrogeological instrumentation.
