  • The role of the SOREN School Improvement Specialist is to partner with educators and leaders to advance the outcomes of the Regional Educator Network. This includes collaboration with district staff community organizations and higher education partners to strengthen aligned regionwide efforts. Work is grounded in the assigned SOREN Professional Learning Plan(s) supporting implementation continuous improvement and coherence across sites. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining communication routines with SOREN partners facilitating and supporting professional learning and contributing to networked improvement efforts. The position also supports the regional Aim through participation with the Coordinating Body while managing records and coordinating with state agencies SOREN districts community partners and contractors as needed.

    POSITION GOAL: Provide leadership expertise professional development and support for curriculum instruction and school improvement initiatives.

    ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:
    1. Support SOESD schools and districts in achieving their goals and in meeting Oregon requirements by developing and providing consultation facilitation and professional development services.
    2. Collaborate across programs districts and organizations to support implementation of federal state and local initiatives.
    3. Support curriculum instruction and assessment to meet content and performance standards.
    4. Support specific projects such as traditional and digital instructional materials adoption curriculum alignment blended learning teacher evaluation mentoring and work sample scoring.
    5. Assist with grant and contract applications implementation and evaluation.
    6. Serve as liaison and maintain communication with Oregon Department of Education and other state or private agencies regarding curriculum instruction assessment and school improvement.
    7. Keep up to date on local state and national trends rules laws and legislation related to schools teaching learning curriculum instruction assessment and school improvement.
    8. Participate in continuous improvement of knowledge and skills for effective teaching and learning by studying attending classes and conferences and participating in training.
    9. Make effective group presentations to diverse audiences and organizations and facilitate consensus at meetings of diverse stakeholders.
    10. Use professional communication and conduct to communicate clearly and appropriately and make professional decisions within established procedures.
    11. Establish and maintain high-trust relationships.
    12. Comply with SOESD and partner organizations rules policies and procedures.
    13. Perform physical requirements unaided or with assistance of some reasonable accommodation.
    14. Other duties as assigned.


    MINIMUMPREREQUISITES:

    1. Valid Oregon Driver License.
    2. Valid Oregon Teaching License.
    3. Masters degree in education or related field preferred.
    4. Successful experience with continuous school improvement strategies and with curriculum instruction and assessment to implement adopted content and performance standards.
    5. At least five years experience in public education as a classroom teacher preferred.
    6. At least two years experience in providing professional development at a regional level preferred.
    7. The equivalent combination of experience training certification education or degree that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities may be used as an alternative to prerequisites.


    LOCATION: In person at - SOESD District Office (5465 S. Pacific Hwy Phoenix OR. 97535)

    LENGTH OF POSITION:1.0 FTE/190 (academic year)

    SALARY: $62576.96/hr - $107893.12/hr Per the 2026-27 licensed collective bargaining agreement

    SUPERVISOR: Department Administrator
