Job Description Summary
The School of Communication Student Advisory Board advocates for the needs of students in the School of Communication by serving as the student voice to the administration representing the School of Communication to various constituencies offering peer mentorship and generating and implementing programs and initiatives designed to enhance the student experience within the School of Communication. Members are expected to meet weekly to engage in trainings on SoC and CU resources.
Responsibilities
Through weekly meetings with students and administration the Student Advisory Board is designed to cultivate students: Sense of citizenship and belonging within the SoC Chapman community Leadership skills that exhibit exemplary character Knowledge of campus resources and disposition to access resources Awareness of student life to implement changes in response to peer feedback As such it is expected that all SAB Members: Attend mandatory weekly meetings (Three meetings may be missed before a warning is given & a meeting with the advisor & president is scheduled to discuss further participation.) Attend at least five Student Advisory Board and/or SoC events per semester Familiarize yourself with the Student Advisory Board handbook Commit to your role and responsibilities on the Student Advisory Board Help guide students in their academic success personal development and connection to the Chapman community Serve as a role model resource and source of support for students of SoC Actively seeking out meeting needs of peers pertaining to SoC
Required Qualifications
A member of the SOC Student Advisory Board School of Communication student Comfortable with public speaking
