Job Summary

The Inventory Control Specialist will be primarily responsible for performing monthly cycle counts end of year cycle counts investigating and resolving inventory variances fulfillment tasks including allocating product and adding empty reels to incoming orders inputting orders for vendors receiving supermarket product into inventory as it arrives entering/validating/auditing info on all the Kanban boards filing completed orders appropriately using IMS systems to print labels and tag measured reels and using a forklift to put away product and assisting the Distribution Center Manager in effectively managing inventory.

The employee must be able to work effectively in a high involvement empowered work environment.  In addition the Inventory Control Specialist must work as a member of a team and be able to interact and work cooperatively with the Shipping/Scheduling Supervisor Leads Quality Manager Scheduler Planners Fabricators and Accounting Manager. Must possess excellent people skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Displays Noble Intent on a daily basis while performing cycle counts resolving inventory variances and supporting team members.
  • Investigates and resolves inventory discrepancies including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Assists as needed with Transparency to clearly communicate priorities and effectively relaying information to team members.
  • Holds self Accountable and is receptive to feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Performs housekeeping duties such as re-labeling of existing product identifying/developing solutions due to space constraints and general warehousing.
  • Maintains organized and compliant storage practices aligned with safety and quality standards.
  • Displays Curiosity in learning new processes and effectively communicating questions suggestions or concerns.
  • Ensures proper documentation and transaction processing by utilizing existing ERP system and other software including but not limited to JDE TMS DSI and Qlik.
  • Exhibits Determined characteristics by working with and maintaining relationships with all other departments to help run the business.
  • Performing any other miscellaneous duties as by may be assigned by the DC Manager.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Limited; will assist the DC Manager in day-to-day facilitation of Inventory Control activities while promoting Teamwork within the department.

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three years related experience. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as order confirmations customer POs shipping schedules open order reports and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prepare routine reports and professional correspondence and to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret and act on instructions presented in  written verbal diagrammatic or schedule-based formats.
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems and/or ERP systems.
  • Must be able to be certified as a Forklift Operator.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelors degree in supply chain logistics or related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Familiarity with inventory forecasting and demand planning.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand walk bend and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels

Additional Information :

Materials and Equipment Directly Used

  • Must be able to operate computers and specific computer software copier and fax machine.
  • Required to wear safety equipment consisting of approved metatarsal safety shoes eye protection and hearing protection.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • An applicant must complete a satisfactory background check post-offer of employment.  A criminal conviction will not be an automatic bar to employment.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen and physical (if required)
