Senior Systems Administrator

About the Job:The City of Colorado Springs is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to lead and optimize its SharePoint Microsoft 365 and Power Platform environments. This role oversees platform administration solution development using Power Automate and Power Apps and key initiatives such as enterprise search data classification and identity management. It requires strong autonomy in tenant configuration governance and automation while partnering with infrastructure and security teams.

This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year.

As a Senior Systems Administrator you will:
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and technical lead for SharePoint Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft Power Platform including Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Administer and optimize SharePoint on-premises and SharePoint Online overseeing architecture site design and enterprise content management.
  • Build and support automation and business solutions using Microsoft Power Platform technologies while managing governance configuration and lifecycle of SharePoint sites Microsoft 365 Groups and Power Platform environments.
  • Oversee identity and access management within Microsoft 365 including Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) authentication methods and secure application integrations while troubleshooting complex issues across SharePoint Microsoft 365 and Power Platform.
  • Maintain data management compliance and security practices such as Data Loss Prevention retention policies and data classification and monitor platform health adoption and performance.
  • Contribute to platform strategy and support the implementation of new Microsoft 365 and Power Platform features.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of:
  • SharePoint Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Power Platform
  • Identity and access management using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)
  • Governance compliance and data protection practices

Ability to:
  • Lead and manage SharePoint and Microsoft 365 administration and architecture
  • Build automation and business solutions using Power Automate and Power Apps
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and apply governance and security standards across platforms

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related area of study.
  • Five years of full-time professional experience in a related field.
  • Possess or obtain within six months of hire: CompTIA Security Certification

  • Advanced experience designing and administering SharePoint Online SharePoint on-premises or hybrid environments.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Power Platform solution development including complex Power Automate workflows and Power Apps.
  • Strong proficiency with automation and scripting tools such as PowerShell for Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Experience managing Microsoft 365 governance compliance or tenant-wide configuration in a large or complex environment.
