STRATEGIC FUNCTION
The Community Outreach Coordinator (Nutrition) will support the development and implementation of the nutrition education initiatives focused on children birth to age three and their families. The temporary part-time role is responsible for building and strengthening community partnerships and coordinating outreach activities that promote early childhood nutrition health and food access.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

May include the following:
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key community partners including WIC programs Hays County Food Bank Texas State Nutrition Department County Extension Offices and Regional Grocery Store Chains.
  • Serve as a liaison between partner organizations to align goals and coordinate joint initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-sector collaboration to enhance nutrition outreach.
  • Plan coordinate and support community-based activities that promote nutrition education for families with children ages 0-3.
  • Organize workshops demonstrations and events focused on infant and toddler feeding healthy food access and caregiver education.
  • Coordinate logistics for outreach events including scheduling materials and partner participation.
  • Gather feedback from community members and partners to inform program improvements.
  • Assist in developing and distributing educational materials tailored to early childhood nutrition.
  • Promote events and initiatives through partner networks social media and community channels.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders.
  • Track outreach activities participation metrics and partnership engagement.
  • Assist in documenting program outcomes and preparing reports as needed.
  • Support evaluation efforts to measure impact and inform future programming.

REQUIREMENT/QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree (or currently pursuing) in Nutrition Public Health Community Health or a related field.
  • Familiarity with early childhood nutrition and feeding practices (birth -3).
  • Experience in community outreach program coordination or partnership development.
  • Experience working with WIC food access programs. or extension services.
  • Knowledge of community resources and food systems.
  • Ability to read write and speak Spanish
Required:
  • Associates degree (or currently pursuing) in Nutrition Public Health Community Health or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse organizations.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
  • Be able to lift 25 30 lbs.
  • Be able to walk squat/kneel sit on the floor see hear and speak with children to ensure childrens health and safety.
Other Requirements:
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Documentation of Tuberculin Free Condition.
  • Valid Texas Drivers License - Class C
  • Daily access to transportation.
  • Vehicle insurance (personal injury and liability).
  • Word processing and data management skills.
  • Initial Health Exam required for all Head Start staff at the employees expense
  • Initial and annual TB screening is required for all Head Start staff at the agencys expense.
  • Criminal Background Check required for all Head Start staff at the agencys expense.
  • Fingerprinting required for all Head Start staff at the employees expense.
