Louisiana State Penitentiary is seeking a motivated detail-oriented individual to join the team in the Nursing Department as a Licensed Practical Nurse! You could join the group of other medical professionals who perform the nursing and care of inmates within a state correctional facility. Learn to manage a wide spectrum of conditions from emergency response and acute trauma to chronic disease wound care and mental health. Job Duties:

• Provide direct patient care including comfort hygiene safety nutrition and overall well-being under RN or senior LPN guidance.

• Monitor and assess patientspromptlyreportingchangesinphysicalormentalstatustothehealthcareteam.

• Collectspecimensperformdiagnostictestsandaccuratelyrecordvital signs (temperaturepulserespirationbloodpressure).

• Administer medications and treatments safelyfollowingestablishedprotocolsanddocumentingcareaccurately.

• Participateinshift handoversensuringcontinuityofcareandclearcommunicationwiththeteam.

• Assistwithpatient admissions transfers and dischargesmaintainingsafetyandefficiency.

• Respond to emergencies including performing CPR and first aidasneeded.

• Manage inventory and supplies requesting and restocking medications and equipment to support patient care.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type:PROBATION or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

• Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
• An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
• This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment should a permanent position become available the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Compensation:This position has aSpecial Entrance Rate (SER)at each level.However the salary offered will be determinedbased on qualifications and experience.

• Licensed Practical Nurse 1 has an SER of$19.48 per hour
• Licensed Practical Nurse 2 has an SER of$20.84 per hour
• Licensed Practical Nurse 3 has an SER of$22.30 per hour

This position also offers premium pay at a rate of$5.00 per hourfor each hour worked in addition to regular pay.

Career Progression Group:Licensed Practical Nurse 1 2 or 3

• Salary depends on level of experience.
