Job Summary
The Community Response Unit (CRU) part of the Sidewalk Program is responsible for addressing inquiries and complaints related to defective sidewalk curb and pedestrian ramps across New York Citys five boroughs. With oversight of approximately 12750 miles of sidewalk the unit plays a critical role in enhancing pedestrian safety and reducing injuries caused by hazardous conditions.
The College Aide position offers an opportunity to support the Sidewalk Programs Community Response unit through administrative support research outreach and creative project work in a collaborative environment. The College Aide will collaborate with staff members and other units to support daily operations and project goals in a team-oriented environment. Responsibilities include researching reviewing and closing cases via 311 Dynamics and correspondence through the Agency Response Tracking (ART) system. The position will require performing general administrative and clerical tasks assigned by Community Response Unit supervisors. Additionally this position will help maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ensuring accuracy and efficiency within the unit. During the summer months this role may also include assisting with and participating in community outreach initiatives including events such as Summer Streets Open Streets and other NYC DOT programs.

Qualifications :
For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology computer science management information systems data processing or closely related field including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology computer science management information systems data processing or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
