Motorsports Electronics Systems Engineer
Job Summary
In this role you will work on the latest Ford Racing motorsports programs supporting both in development and actively racing sportscar off-road and high performance demonstrator projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement data acquisition and control systems for motorsports applications including system layout sensor integration wire harness design and data logging
- Provide trackside support during testing and race events troubleshooting system issues and analyzing real-time data
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to integrate data systems with vehicle electronics and powertrain components
- Document system designs configurations and operating procedures
- Support prototype and production vehicle builds as needed
- Interface with Ford Racing Motorsports partners and customers
- MATLAB Simulink based vehicle controls development including but not limited to:
- Power Distribution
- Steering Wheel/Driver Controls
- Brake Controls
- Diagnostics and Failure Mode Handling
- Driver display development (Steering wheel Digital Display etc)
Qualifications
Essential Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Physics or an equivalent technical degree.
- 2 years of experience in automotive powertrain controls development
- Must hold or be eligible for a passport. International and Domestic travel may be required
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
- Experience using Bosch Motorsport Motec Cosworth and Mclaren Hardware and Software
- Professional motorsport experience (IMSA WEC F1 WRC NASCAR Indycar W2RC)
- Formula SAE experience very highly preferred
- Preferred candidate has experience using CAN tools to collect and analyze vehicle communication data and the ability to create read and modify CAN drivers and CAN message database.
- Proficiency with MATLAB & Simulink
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex dynamic systems and design control algorithms to meet performance targets
- Strong overall knowledge of vehicle and powertrain functions
- Proficiency in C# Python MATLAB VBA or an equivalent programming language
- Possess a competitive spirt can-do attitude and interest in professional and amateur Motorsports at a technical level
- Strong team player ability to work with multiple suppliers and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with high responsibility
- Detail oriented self-starter and problem solver
