Summary/Objective
This key quality leadership position will have oversight and responsibility for all quality related activities within two facilities. The leader will facilitate and drive process and product continuous improvement. Develops and administers policies and procedures for evaluating and improving the quality of products materials components and/or manufacturing processes. Makes recommendations to ensure production runs meet established quality standards and predicted yields. Ensures employees follow established procedures and complete quality assurance work within time and budgetary constraints. May be responsible for ensuring products meet international quality standards such as ISO 9001. Works across a variety of quality assurance disciplines. Requires a bachelors degree. Typically reports to the head of a unit/department.

- Ownership and management of the Quality Management System (QMS) and quality of any quality initiatives across the Naugatuck and Waterbury plants. Including quality systems improvement 5Y root cause investigation real time problem solving project implementation effective training and cultural change.
- Primary quality contact with Customer Quality Teams in resolving quality concerns and being a primary contributor to the operationalization of new products with the goal of initial qualification and production of new products with no quality issues. Also evaluate quality risks with existing products and mitigate potential significant risks.
- Establish and maintain statistical process control procedures and drive actions on trends or variances outside established limits which require corrective action.
- Develop and utilize Lean Six Sigma based FMEA and quality plans for inspection testing and evaluation of materials processes and products across the divisions of various plants and operations. Ensure that internal procedural audits are completed.
- Devise statistically sound Lean Six Sigma sampling procedures and implement systems for recording evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data.
- Lead the quality organization and its interaction with other company departments suppliers and customers on matters related to materials processes or products which impact product quality and reliability objectives.
- Focus on business performance improvements on key KPIs that yield zero accidents defect free products on demand and on time delivery at the lowest cost.
- Work as a coach / mentor to develop less experienced quality staff and ensure effective TWI training. Establish the climate that encourages an open two-way channel of communication whereby employees exchange ideas / suggestions and share information
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in engineering or technical degree from an accredited university is preferred. Equivalent experiences will be considered.
- Expert knowledge in the use and application of key quality tools (DOE SPC FMEA 8D Cpk JMP etc.)
- Ability to lead and implement ISO/TS & Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a quality leadership role.
- Additional leadership experience in the areas of Operations Manufacturing Product Development or Quality
- CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or CMQ/OE (Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence) certification a positive
