Job Summary
Simple Laboratories is looking for an experiencedLaboratory Supervisorto supervise and support Lab Techs and bench including tests in Chemistry Hematology Urinalysis Coagulation and Immunology/Serology. Reporting to the Lab Director will assist further with administrative hospital compliance reporting as needed. This position is located inside our south Chicago hospital laboratory.
Successful candidates should feel comfortable working with specimens and can work in a fast-paced laboratory environment while serving as the first point of contact for questions issues or determining need for appropriate escalation.
Shift:Primarily AM shift with alternating weekends.
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow the laboratorys procedures for specimen handling and processing test analysis and reporting and maintaining records of patient test results
- Conduct chemical analysis of bodily fluids such as blood and urine using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases and enter findings into computer
- Follow the laboratorys established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratorys established acceptable levels of performance
- Operate laboratory equipment and instruments; record data and maintain equipment
- Adhere to the laboratorys quality control policies document all quality control activities instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed
- Use universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from bio-hazardous materials including blood-borne pathogens
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for supervising laboratory personnel conducting and overseeing quality assurance and quality control and collecting analyzing and interpreting lab results.
- Duties include managing workload staffing and laboratory personnel implementing new procedures methods and instruments and ensuring all training accreditation and competency standards are met.
- Help organizes and directs the daily activities of the laboratory under the guidance of the Laboratory Director.
- Perform high quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision from the Laboratory Director.
- Interact professionally with other colleagues on all assignments
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelors degree in Chemistry Biology Clinical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Technology program from an accredited institution required.
- Experience:Minimum 3 years in a high complexity laboratory. Must be able to demonstrate competency in all assays within the designated department within 6 months of hire.
- Certificates/Licenses:MLS/MT (ASCP) AMT or other national accreditation required. MeetsCLIA requirements for high complexity testing personnel.
- Leadership:Demonstrated ability to lead mentor and support colleagues and coworkers with highly developed analytical interpersonal collaborative and positive communication skills.
