Overview
The Regional Chief Pilot manages the day-to-day operations for Flight Operations at their assigned bases and leads their base management teams including Flight Operations Base Managers (FOBMs) Regional Crew Managers and Administration staff to ensure Pilot competence and qualification with regards to safety regulatory and communication requirements. The incumbent(s) can be located at the following crew bases (relocation assistance may be available): DTW ATL CVG.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading and directing activities at crew bases that lead to achieving Flight Plan Goals.
- Works collaboratively with others to ensure consistency best practices are followed.
- Establishes and accounts for Flight Operations base goals initiatives and operational performance metrics in dependability work performance attendance operational goals customer service standards of performance and safety.
- Builds positive relationships within the department and across the organization.
- Establishes and evaluate standards of performance and appearance for flight operations department.
- Conducts special projects as required.
- Participates in the SMS program as established by the Director Safety and Compliance.
- Participates as a member of the Flight Standards review board.
- Works with management team to ensure Pilots comply with Company Policy and FARs.
- Directly supervises assigned Flight Operations Base Managers and participates in the decisions of hiring and promoting.
- Reviews potential discipline and/or termination cases for pilots.
- Participates in grievance hearings mediation and arbitrations.
- Responsible for base budgets and management staffing (forecasting and maintenance).
- Establishes supports and maintains agreements between Union and the Company through effective communication and interaction with union representatives.
- Establish guidelines and performance development policies for Flight Ops.
- Conducts and participates in base meetings departmental staff meetings and Pilot meetings.
- Conducts Base Manager Performance reviews coaching and development.
- Reviews trends operational performance for Flt Ops and implement process improvements.
- Promotes and maintains employee morale and diversity.
- Incorporate performance recognition per Company programs for the base.
- Maintains a high level of knowledge and ensure compliance in the areas of Company Policy FOM FAA Regulations and Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for the leadership and management of Flight Operations Base Managers at assigned crew bases.

Qualifications
- Must be a Captain or Captain eligible by the time of applying
- Bachelors degree or a combination of education and related experience
- 3 years of experience in airline operations or comparable experience
- 1 year of supervisory experience or equivalent
- Airline Transport Pilot license
- Ability to meet the requirements of FAR 119.67 for Chief Pilot
- Strong work ethic reliable self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- Strong business acumen and experience working with all levels of an organization.
- Very strong analytical interpretive and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with focus on communication and problem resolution.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including strong Excel and PowerPoint skills including the charting trending and presenting of complex data
- Pay is set at 95 credit hours per month and this position is eligible for a 10% target on the Management Incentive Program (MIP).
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Can involve long periods of sitting. Computer work in a typical office environment subject to critical deadlines.
- May work on the aircraft classroom base and office environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
- Some repetitive motion such as typing.
- Position requires some physical exertion such as pulling pushing reaching bending standing walking and light lifting of boxes bags electronic equipment and emergency I galley equipment not in excess of 30 lbs.
- Travel will necessary up to 30% for base visits and meetings
