This position is located at SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health Waccamaw Center for Mental Health 525 Layfette Street Georgetown SC 29440.

This position may be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

As the Mental Health Professional working under general supervision from the clinic director and/or clinic director supervisor you will provide therapeutic services particularly as a specialist for children and adolescents in Georgetown County School Based programs for Waccamaw Center for Mental Health in Georgetown County.Provide intakes counseling and case management dealing with situations encompassing interpersonal health and psychosocial factors. Provide crisis diversion services and consultation to individual and/or agencies hospitals and WCMH outpatient department. Provide services to all patients of WCMH at the Georgetown Clinic.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional / School Based Georgetown County include:
  • Provide counseling and case management to individuals and families with a focus on the chronically mentally ill and those with emotional disturbances by utilizing individual group and family counseling plus other approved center services.
  • Maintain an average bill time of direct service hours of 810 annually.
  • Develop treatment plans in coordination with patients families and treatment teams and assist with treatment scheduling/meetings.
  • Maintain documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State Federal Local OMH WCMH Quality Assurance Corporate Compliance and CARF standards.
  • Assist patients in gaining appropriate services consult with local agencies organizations and human service providers.
  • Provide after hours emergency and on call services as directed by Clinic Director.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A masters degree in guidance counseling the social sciences.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; ability to see hear at normal volumes stand walk reach pull stoop bend and climb at least two (2) flights of stairs.
  • Be able to meet OMH credentialing requirements which include specific graduate course work including Psychopathology/Psychopathology Diagnostics/Clinical Assessment - Practice with Family Therapy (DSM)/Medical Ethics
  • Must be able to show evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience maybe documented as a practicum internship or post-graduate clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • License preferred - professional counselor or social worker.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

  • Own a vehicle and commute within Georgetown County.
  • Have thorough knowledge of the range and scope of services provided in a comprehensive mental health program serving the chronically mental ill and families in the unique treatment needs of this special population.
  • Be able to provide 10-year DMV driving record.
  • Have ability to integrate and coordinate services with those of other disciplines and to communicate effectively.
  • Possess assessment interviewing and case management skill set.
  • Participate in on-going in-service training and other educational opportunities in order to maintain necessary skills to perform duties.
  • Understand and be able to maintain effective working relationships with patients families and representatives of other professional disciplines.
  • Exercise good clinical judgement and being able to function independently while exhibiting self-direction.
