Job Summary

Overview

The Library Specialist for Access Services plays a key role in supporting equitable and timely access to library resources and services. This position leads course reserve operations and manages interlibrary loan borrowing services working closely with faculty staff and students to ensure access to materials that support teaching learning and research.

As a member of the Access Services team this position also contributes to library assessment efforts through data analysis and reporting supports the supervision and training of student employees and shares responsibility for service desk operations and daily building procedures. The Specialist works collaboratively across the library and contributes to the goals of the Access Instruction & Research Services (AIRS) department.

This position works the standard business hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate course reserve services and partner with faculty to ensure timely access to course materials.
  • Manage interlibrary loan borrowing operations including workflows systems copyright compliance and resource-sharing partnerships.
  • Provide responsive support to faculty staff and students in obtaining requested ILL materials.
  • Prepare statistical reports and analyze service data to support library assessment and collection decision-making.
  • Secondary supervision of 40 student employees including training them in library policies systems equipment and procedures aiding in professional development and mentorship.
  • Share responsibility for service desk staffing daily operations and scheduled building opening and closing.
  • Participate in assessment cross-functional initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support the librarys and colleges commitments to access equity diversity inclusion and collaboration.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree
  • One to three years of relevant experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Commitment to user-centered library services
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills commitment to accuracy and attention to details
  • Demonstrated reliability and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity inclusion and diversity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience working in an academic library
  • Familiarity with integrated library systems and interlibrary loan systems
  • Experience training or supervising student employees

Compensation:

The annual wage for this position will be $50625 to $52925 depending on experience.
