Job Summary
QUALIFICATIONS:
Technologist must be registered and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic
Technology (ARRT).
Maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE
Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Reviews and interprets physician order for the diagnostic x-ray procedure accurately.
2. Validates all patient identification before performing any diagnostic x-ray procedure accurately.
3. Communicate with patients to obtain medical history and/or specific medical information that is pertinent to the procedure and/or patients well-being during the procedure.
4. Validate proper working conditions and technical factors of all imaging equipment and procedure room.
5. Explain procedure to patients to facilitate patient cooperation and alleviate patient anxiety; ensures patient comfort and safety.
6. Assumes responsibility for patient care during the imaging procedure to include infection control.
7. Follows procedure protocols and policies and procedures in performing diagnostic x-ray procedures.
8. Demonstrates competence in collimation patient positioning and radiation safety to reduce radiation exposure as much as possible.
9. Practices radiation safety for patients family visitors and self.
10. Critiques all images for image quality for interpretation.
11. Actively participates in the Quality Assurance program(s).
12. Consistently demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities and deals with them promptly.
13. Establishes and maintains a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all members of the department and facility.
14. Demonstrates a willingness to learn new procedures and assist in other areas as needed.
15. Participation with on call as needed to support the department/facility.
16. Demonstrates competence in utilizing all imaging support equipment to include printers RIS and PACS system.
17. Accurately operates all functions of the RIS system to include entering orders and charging of all procedures.
