As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes critical thinking problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education experience demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The position does require the successful applicant to have experience in wound care IV initiation and medication administration IV oral intramuscular and subcutaneous. For Internationally Educated LPNs: Qualified candidates will be invited to interview and if successful may complete a 4-week Elsevier Shadow Health e-SIM course with a minimum score of 80% as part of the final assessment process. Candidates who successfully complete both the interview and e-SIM assessment will be required to attend a 3-week centralized orientation in Edmonton prior to starting the unit/program-specific orientation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous Connect Care (Rural Nurse). Labour and Delivery and post-partum experience or a willingness to train is a must. As this facility cares for a variety of clients experience or training in palliative care is beneficial. Experience as a charge nurse as is previous work as an RN in a rural setting. The following is also preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Fetal Heart Surveillance (FHS) training in LEAD II.
