- Skilled Maintenance Technician II - Construction
About the Job:In this position you will perform a variety of skilled construction maintenance and repair duties in support of Parks Recreation and Cultural Services. You will also provide technical assistance to supervisory staff and assist team members with skilled maintenance tasks.

This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year.
As a Maintenance Technician II you will:- Excavate demo and prepare sites for the installation of park amenities and concrete and respond to after-hours department emergencies pertaining to safety-related issues
- Pressure wash caulk patch and paint structural amenities and infrastructure as needed
- Place and finish various concrete mixes for structural repairs and new construction
- Remove and replace damaged sidewalk panels
- Transport and operate light-duty and heavy-duty equipment
- Fill out and manage assigned work orders generated through an online work order system manage order scheduling and assist with winter snow removal operations when needed
- Assist the welding team with fabrication and welding-related repairs and the carpenter with rough and finish carpentry
- Transport set up operate and tear down sites for special event functions
- Operate a walk-behind concrete lip grinder concrete saw and equipment used to remove or remedy graffiti
- Provide occasional oversight of contracted services; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies procedures and standards
- Other duties as assigned
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of:- Design and construction principles related to concrete removal and replacement
- Equipment and techniques of the construction trade such as concrete welding carpentry equipment operation equipment transportation metalworking and fabrication painting sign work and structural maintenance
- Preventative maintenance requirements
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Repair and maintenance standards for playground structures play elements and playground surfacing
- Modern office technology and supporting software
- Work well with a team and take direction
- Interpret blueprints and build to design specifications
- Safely operate a variety of assigned tools equipment machinery and vehicle(s)
- Perform manual labor in any weather condition
- Work safely and follow all safety protocols and policies
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing
Minimum Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED with specialized training related to concrete installation and finishing
- Three years of full-time skilled maintenance and/or technical experience related to the installation and maintenance of concrete
- Possess or obtain upon hire and maintain a valid non-probationary Colorado drivers license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
Preferred Qualifications

- Five years of full-time skilled maintenance and/or technical experience related to the installation maintenance and repair of park structural amenities
- Working knowledge of equipment operation excavation demolition framing pouring and finishing concrete
- Experience performing skilled maintenance tasks such as welding carpentry facilities maintenance playground maintenance locksmithing event set up and sign production
- Experience performing construction and maintenance tasks within a diverse Parks system
- Possess or obtain within one year of hire and maintain a valid non-probationary Colorado Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges (NOTE: CURRENT CDLs MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) DRUG AND ALCOHOL CLEARINGHOUSE AT .)

Physical Demands:This position requires the ability to sit stand walk and climb for prolonged periods occasionally work at heights over 60 feet in confined spaces below grade and lift and carry between 50 and 75 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently. Audiovisual acuity is also required.
