We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Building Engineer to join our facilities team. This role provides hands-on training in building systems maintenance offering an excellent pathway into a lifelong skilled trade with opportunities for advancement. You will work closely with experienced engineers to learn the fundamentals of building operations safety and preventive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform supervised inspections of HVAC plumbing electrical and mechanical systems
- Assist with preventive maintenance tasks such as filter changes lubrication and minor equipment adjustments
- Support troubleshooting and basic repairs under guidance from senior engineering staff
- Learn to enter work orders update maintenance logs and maintain inventory of spare parts
- Conduct routine safety checks and promptly report hazards
- Assist in preparing basic technical reports and maintenance checklists
- Participate in facility projects including equipment installations system upgrades and energy-efficiency initiatives
Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic tools
- Strong desire to learn a skilled trade and grow within facilities or building maintenance
- Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to perform physical tasks and follow safety procedures
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Typical duration: 612 months (flexible)
- Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for emergency support
