Job Summary

Apprentice Building Engineer

Location: New Orleans LA
Employment Type: Full-Time (612 Month Program Flexible Duration)

We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Building Engineer to join our facilities team. This role provides hands-on training in building systems maintenance offering an excellent pathway into a lifelong skilled trade with opportunities for advancement. You will work closely with experienced engineers to learn the fundamentals of building operations safety and preventive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Perform supervised inspections of HVAC plumbing electrical and mechanical systems
Assist with preventive maintenance tasks such as filter changes lubrication and minor equipment adjustments
Support troubleshooting and basic repairs under guidance from senior engineering staff
Learn to enter work orders update maintenance logs and maintain inventory of spare parts
Conduct routine safety checks and promptly report hazards
Assist in preparing basic technical reports and maintenance checklists
Participate in facility projects including equipment installations system upgrades and energy-efficiency initiatives

Qualifications

Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic tools
Strong desire to learn a skilled trade and grow within facilities or building maintenance
Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to perform physical tasks and follow safety procedures

Schedule

Full-time position
Typical duration: 612 months (flexible)
Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for emergency support

Chief Building Engineer / Facilities Manager

Compensation
