Assistant Director of Landscape Architecture - Fort Lauderdale

We are seeking an experience and motivated Assistant Director of Landscape Architecture to support the leadership and growth of our Landscape Architecture team. This role bridges strategic leadership and project executionoverseeing multiple municipal and public-sector projects supporting team development and assisting in operational and business initiatives. The Assistant Director plays a key role in ensuring design quality managing resources strengthening client relationships and contributing to the firms continued success and expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Director in overseeing Landscape Architecture staff including Senior Landscape Architects and project teams
- Provide mentorship guidance and performance feedback to team members
- Oversee multiple projects to ensure quality schedule and budget expectations are met
- Provide technical and design oversight on complex municipal projects
- Serve as a key client contact supporting presentations meetings and stakeholder coordination
- Assist in managing project budgets resource allocation and workload balancing
- Support business development efforts including proposals and client relationship management
- Coordinate with engineers planners contractors and regulatory agencies
- Participate in site visits to support project oversight and ensure design intent
- Contribute to departmental processes design standards and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Landscape Architecture
- Registered Landscape Architect (RLA) required (FL-preferred otherwise must attain Florida License within 6-months of employment)
- Minimum of 10 years of professional landscape architecture experience
- Minimum of 45 years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong experience with municipal or public-sector projects
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D or Revit preferred
- Proficiency with SketchUp Rhino Lumion or similar visualization tools
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop Illustrator InDesign)
- Familiarity with GIS tools and project management software preferred
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills
Work Environment & Schedule
- In-office for the first six (6) months; hybrid work arrangement available thereafter
- Office-based leadership and design work combined with regular field visits
- Frequent travel to project sites client meetings and stakeholder engagements
