Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Maintenance Technician to support the reliability and performance of our manufacturing facility and infrastructure this role you will perform preventative maintenance troubleshoot and repair equipment issues and help minimize downtime to support a 24/7 industrial environment.
You will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency by responding to emergency repairs supporting new equipment installations and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards. This position also participates in the sites Emergency Response Team (ERT) requiring a strong commitment to safety preparedness and continuous training.
The ideal candidate is hands-on mechanically inclined and able to work independently while adapting to changing priorities. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated technician who takes pride in maintaining high-performing equipment and contributing to a safe well-run operation.
Employees will be trained under supervision and gradually transition to independent work. Success in this role depends on attention to detail willingness to follow procedures and comfort working in an industrial environment with strict safety requirements.

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Trade or technical school degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 3 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Effectively performs emergency and unscheduled repairs and preventative maintenance tasks per policies and procedures
- Responsible for completing maintenance activities on schedule and within quality standards to limit equipment downtime
- Successfully performs maintenance related activities correlated to the installation of new equipment and process controls
- Accurately completes and communicates required documentation of work orders status updates and service records
- Directs assigned projects including procurement installation renovations and modifications per PSM compliance standards and within safe work practices
- Approaches all activities with a safety first attitude keeping work storage and supply areas clean and organized.
- Actively takes part in the Emergency Response Team (ERT) maintaining all required training and medical certifications and responds to incident and/or emergency situations
Working Conditions
- Direct physical work in an industrial manufacturing setting
- Exposure to dusts fumes heat noise cold and potential exposure to hazardous and toxic materials
- Potential to work in isolated locations
- Work may occasionally be performed outdoors in variable weather conditions
- Work may consist of being elevated either on ladder or lift or in tight spaces
- Working hours may consist of off-shift on-call weekends and holidays to accommodate a 24/7 operation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift push or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to climb bend reach push pull and work on ladders or mechanical lifts.
- Ability to wear required PPE and safety equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to meet physical requirements for required Emergency Response Team participation.
Safety Requirements
All employees must comply with site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporate EHS standards.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Safety glasses goggles splash shields
- Steel toe footwear
- Long pants sleeved uniform hearing protection
- Dust mask respirator or supplied air as required
Medical Screening:
- Pre-employment PFT and respirator physical
- Required Annual PFT and respirator physicals
Quality and Environmental Responsibilities
- Due to inventory quantities of some highly hazardous materials MPZ is covered by OSHA standard for Process Safety Management as well as EPAs Risk Management program. All MPZ personnel are required to understand the importance of following all operating procedures to maintain regulatory compliance with these programs.
- Due to classification of several process waste streams DEP standards for Hazardous Waste handling and storage must be followed to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Coherent meets the ISO 9001 quality standards. MPZ employees must understand and follow all applicable Quality Assurance policies and participate in audits to maintain ISO 9001 certification.
- Failure to follow operating procedures could result in a release of hazardous materials impacting employees and the environment.
