The Philosophy Department at the University of San Diego housed within the College of Arts and Sciences is pluralistic covering all significant historical periods and most major philosophical methods. Faculty represent diverse approaches and interests and are engaged in a wide range of teaching research and service activities.

The USD Philosophy Department seeks applications for two part-time instructors for the following courses for Fall 2026 (in-person modality). Each person hired will teach two sections of the same course:

PHIL 116 Morality and Justice

This position is included in the Non-tenure Track Bargaining Unit and the successful applicant employee subject to the terms of the Colleges Collective Bargaining will be a bargaining unit member and will be subject to the Universitys Agreement with SEIU Local 721.

Minimum Qualifications:

M.A. in Philosophy

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Philosophy

Background check: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.

Compensation for this position will be paid on a bi-weekly basis at a per-unit rate of $2581-$2659 commensurate with qualifications.

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience education and other factors including departmental budget.
