Under the general supervision of the Nursing Supervisor will provide medically necessary nursing services to clients in assigned areas within CCMHC. Will also ensure frequent interaction with other community agencies and maintain positive professional relationships.

Responsibilities for the Registered Nurse:
  • Will assess for & provide medically necessary nursing services including but not limited to nursing assessments and medication monitoring for effectiveness and side effects.
  • Will participate in planning implementing & evaluating nursing services. Will attend and participate in Treatment Team meetings/staffings including staffing with MD at CCMHC. Provide medical testing for staff as required. Pursue continuing education and training. Maintain positive professional relationships with MHC staff and community agencies as well as clients and their families. Work to overcome the stigma of mental illness and mental health services by providing education training and support services to the community at large.
  • Will provide coordination & consultation for case managers and MDs to meet the needs of the clients served including but not limited to medication needs administering injections and necessary coordination with outside resources regarding health care needs.
  • Will collaborate with Treatment Team members in the coordination of education programs to promote client care continuity integrating psychiatric nursing services with other clinical services. Will provide nursing education to clients and their families regarding medication management of symptoms health care issues and healthy living.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A bachelors degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience; or a three (3) year diploma and two (2) years of experience; or an associate degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience as a registered nurse one (1) of which must have been in a community health program

Additional Requirements

  • Employee must be licensed to practice nursing in SC and must qualify as a Registered Nurse as defined by SCOMH / CCMHC Quality Assurance.

*Nursing Positions:

A nursing license through the SC Board of Nursing must be obtained no later than 30 days of initial hire date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
  • Health care or related experience.
  • Knowledge of nursing procedures personal hygiene basic health and safety practices basic human anatomy.

Additional Comments

Post hire employees must: (use this verbiage if applicable)

  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
  • Have knowledge of nursing procedures personal hygiene basic health and safety practices basic human anatomy.
  • Be able to operate a state vehicle.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule and know this position is considered essential and may be called back during crises / disasters/ emergencies. .
  • Perform all job duties and provide all services and documentation in compliance with CARF OMH CCMHC Quality Assurance Compliance HIPAA Transcultural and Productivity Standards Policies and Procedures.
