Factory Automation Engineer I Mechatronics Engineering

Major PurposeProvides assistance with Factory Automation (FA) engineering processes. Performs basic tasks using existing procedures for specific controls engineering (e.g. Electrical machine controls design; Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming; Industrial Robotics programming; Electrical and Product Test System design PC programming) assignments. At this level projects are of limited scope and responsibility; work plans and decisions are made within established guidelines and reviewed by supervisors and/or Duties- Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps as well as the plant machinery and equipment required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems.- Implement feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions under supervision to provide feedback and contribute to validation of the design.- Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.- Provide technical support to inspections of the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures and the remedial works needed in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.- Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.- Implement improvements and provide feedback on them. Use change management systems and protocols to provide routine support services.- Help others get the most out of knowledge management systems by offering support and advice.- Support others by carrying out a range of product development and engineering activities such as analyzing client situations or interpreting data.- Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities.- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
