The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Project Manager to lead and collaborate on the construction delivery of exhibitions programs events infrastructure and architectural projects.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

You will be responsible for planning executing and monitoring medium-to-large construction projects coordinating key stakeholders managing risk and dependencies whilst ensuring clear communication across relevant teams. Additionally you will drive continuous improvement in delivery practices across a dynamic and varied project schedule. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Senior Project Manager and Exhibition Design team on the delivery of simultaneous projects including managing key consultants and construction phases for exhibitions installations and infrastructure projects of all scales & complexities.
  • Defining project scope objectives deliverables schedule budget and resource planning using highly effective planning systems and techniques. Coordinating and consulting with the project team Design and key stakeholders.
  • Leading and managing day to day execution: assigning tasks tracking progress managing and resolving issues and escalating when required. Coordinating site schedules considering any OHS requirements and facilitating approvals during fabrication and construction stages.
  • Overseeing the financial planning of projects including developing and monitoring budgets forecasting RFQ liaising with consultants instigating procurement undertaking cost analysis and reporting to achieve the highest project performance within budget.

To be successful you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in project management building or related field coupled with a minimum 3 years industry experience in construction project management or similar role. You can produce project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified regularly communicate with and support project team members and ensure project objectives are met by anticipating and managing potential and emerging issues.

You maximise effectiveness by developing and managing a high performing team ensuring staff are actively deployed through effective workforce planning practices build team commitment by demonstrating personal conviction and professionalism and motivate others to deliver against goals. You negotiate and record various elements of contracts and monitor expenditure and service delivery against contract specifications. You have demonstrated proficiency in use of project management and spreadsheet software with an understanding of financial tracking and reporting.

You will have knowledge and understanding of building codes CAD and related design programs including the ability to prepare and interpret working drawings and specifications.
