How Youll Make an Impact
As a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway you will join a dedicated team of support workers who provide person-centred support to people with disabilities in their own homes.
A day in the life as a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway may include:
- Supporting participants to work towards their goals in alignment with their NDIS plan with a strong focus on safety dignity and individual outcomes
- Working respectfully alongside families health professionals and internal care teams to achieve great outcomes.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment that promotes independence and autonomy.
- Providing behavioural and mental health support
As a Support Worker you will ideally have experience within the disability and/or healthcare sectors. You will also demonstrate the following:
- A compassionate and empathetic approach with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in peoples lives.
- Experience supporting participants with high and complex needs including complex behaviours and substance abuse both at home and in the community
- Strong communication skills.
- The ability to take responsibility use initiative and work effectively as part of a team and with the family and care team.
- Previous experience in a similar role at least 2 years particularly working with individuals with multiple diagnoses and complex behaviours.
- Ability to set clear boundaries and de-escalate behaviours of concern.
- Compassionate and patient demeanour with a genuine passion for helping others.
Essential:
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
- Valid drivers licence with access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.
