The technical team provides support to the Biochemistry and Genetics teaching programmes to ensure students studying towards a Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Applied Science Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences and postgraduate degrees gain hands on experience and learn critical skills to propel them into fulfilling world-class careers.
The role/Te mahi
We are seeking applications for the position of Assistant Technician to work in the class preparation team for undergraduate teaching laboratories.

We are looking for candidates who have:
Good laboratory skills especially in aseptic techniques.
Ability to operate equipment and awareness of potential hazards.
Reasonable level of physical fitness and robustness to perform repetitive tasks.
Knowledge of laboratory chemical and biological safety issues.
Effective communication skills and an ability to work effectively as part of a team.
High degree of organisation including an ability to prioritise tasks meet deadlines and work unsupervised if required.
Ability to follow instructions.

There are two permanent full-time (37.5 hours per week) positions available based in Dunedin starting in July 2026.
There is a requirement for work outside regular working hours (8:30am 5:00pm) this will include weekends and public holidays for which time in lieu will be granted.
The appointment range for this role is $59494 to $63000 Top of Range $68847.
