The Centre for Learning Futures at UNB is the universitys hub for lifelong learning supporting community engagement and revenue growth through innovative programming. The Centre for Learning Futures supports a variety of learning opportunities ranging from online academic programs and courses across a variety of disciplines to executive education professional development and personal development opportunities. The Office of Experiential Education also operates within the Learning Futures Umbrella.

Salary Range: $54614 - $70998 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to Manager Instructional Design & Development the E-Learning Developer supports the development implementation and maintenance of online learning environments providing technical & multimedia support to ensure high-quality engaging and functional course delivery. Working collaboratively with instructional designers Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other development team members the E-Learning Developer contributes to the creation and maintenance of learning management system (LMS) content multimedia assets and web-based learning materials.

  • Create and develop web-based learning content; convert source course materials into online formats.
  • Design and build interactive engaging eLearning modules using web authoring tools multimedia production and audio/video editing.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative teams to define eLearning requirements and translate them into effective online learning experiences.
  • Develop and maintain learning management system (LMS) course content multimedia assets and web-based materials.
  • Ensure online learning materials meet functionality accessibility and UNB course delivery and review standards.
  • Collaborate with units within the Centre for Learning Futures to deliver best practices and leading-edge design for instructors and learners.
  • Use institutionally approved tools and platforms including appropriate AI-supported features to support efficient content production and meet accessibility and ethical guidelines.
  • Apply consistent file asset and code organization to support maintainability reuse and long-term sustainability.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on LMS platforms course authoring tools and web-based learning content.
  • Partner with Transformative Teaching and Learning to develop and deliver instructional assets that support high-quality course delivery.
  • Support the use of web-based conferencing tools and technologies for online course delivery.
  • Monitor and respond to support requests from staff students and clients; follow up to resolve issues promptly.
  • Deliver training and support on effective use of online learning tools and platforms.
  • Guide instructors and staff on technical constraints and best practices to reduce accessibility and usability issues.
  • Support development of digital and web-based materials across Centre for Learning Futures initiatives.
  • Contribute to marketing and promotional content development as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows tools and templates; share recommendations with the development team.
  • Participate in professional development and share knowledge and best practices with colleagues.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Degree in Web Development eLearning Development Information Technology Multimedia Design Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years combined experience in one or more of the following areas: web development (HTML CSS JavaScript preferred) content editing multimedia design and production online course development and technical support.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Strengths

  • Experience working within a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Desire2Learn Brightspace (D2L) is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript is considered an asset.
  • Experience in instructional design and online course development is preferred.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to provide technical support in an eLearning environment.
  • Familiarity with web development frameworks (e.g. React Angular ) is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with accessibility-informed development practices and emerging educational technologies is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with the post secondary environment would also be an asset.
