Cenovus Energy is currently looking for an Engineering student to join the Subsurface Production team. As the successful candidate you willaid in the management and analysis of technical information for the subsurface group whose primary responsibilities cover the White Rose oil and gas reservoirs wells and production reporting.

The Subsurface Production student supports both Production and Reservoir Engineers in the monitoring and performance evaluation of the White Rose wells.

We are looking for a candidate who is a keen learner and thrives working in a fast-paced and diverse environment.

Whatyoulldo

  • Working with Production and Reservoir Engineers to maximize value from the existing White Rose wells

  • Identify and recommend well and field production optimization opportunities to the Subsurface Production team

  • Provide regular production performance updates to Subsurface Production team

  • Monitoring of current well conditions and review of historical data to make recommendations

  • Interface with other stakeholders such as Operations Marine and Subsea teams to resolve field issues

  • Participate in risk assessments and field HAZOPS

  • Assisting with data management for the Subsurface Production team by maintaining production and reservoir engineering databases and visualizations

  • Support regulatory well testing and production reporting

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canadafull-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g. work visa)

  • Available to begin work in September 2026

  • Critical thinker and ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced hard-working team environment

  • Flexible to changing work demands and ability to prioritize

  • Innovative with a strong desire to learn and the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problemsprocessesor solutions

  • Demonstrates collaboration by actively seeking out diverse people and organizations to collectively achieve business goals

  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential

  • Experience with a range of software programs considered an asset (ex. MS Excel Spotfire Power BI VBA Python SQL)

Education

  • Must be enrolled in a Mechanical Process or Computer Engineering Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work termOR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term

  • Candidates currently enrolled in either aMastersor Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered
