Job Title:Ram Resident Teacher

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Ram Residency Program is to partner a resident (student teacher) with an experienced co-teacher for a year-long placement in the classroom in order to learn grow and develop as a teacher.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following dutiesARE NOTintended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional position-specific duties.
Release Time Training and Support:
- Resident Teachers and Cooperating Teachers will receive training on their roles and responsibilities including training on co-teaching models and coaching.
- ASU Site Coordinators will provide additional support as needed.
- If a Resident Teacher is experiencing challenges the Site Coordinator should be notified and additional actions will be planned.
Planning:
- Cooperating Teachers and Resident Teachers will collaborate to plan the delivery of instruction based on the districts pacing calendars and curriculum expectations.
- The Resident Teacher will be increasingly responsible for the planningpreparation and readiness to deliver the content assigned.
Training:
- Resident Teachers will be responsible for completing all district employee training beginning with New Employee Orientation training.
- Residents and Cooperating Teachers will attend the beginning-semester events hosted by ASU.
- Residents and Cooperating Teachers will attend a joint orientation through ASU. (Potential Date: August 7 2024)
Other Duties as Assigned
- Ram Residents may be assigned duty outside of the time they are co-teaching with their CT (i.e. before/after school) and should be expected to complete these duties with increasing independence throughout the school year.
- Residents will provide coverage for their CT to attend ASU Cooperating Teacher trainings held during the school day.
- Occasionally and based on readiness the Ram Resident may be asked to teach independently if their Cooperating Teacher is the event of an extended absence a substitute teacher should be provided.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be an active participant in the Angelo State Ram Residency Program.
- Currently working to obtain Bachelors Degree and teaching certification.
- Must be able to receive constructive feedback/coaching.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position may require long periods of standing and teaching in a classroom setting.
- This position also consists of long periods of sitting in front of a computer.
- Work outside of the classroom may be required.
