You own the Quality Food Safety and Compliance agenda from design to execution for Tates Bake Shop on Long Island New York. You are directly responsible for leading the sites Quality Assurance Compliance and Sanitation teams comprised of salaried and hourly associates.

How you will contribute

As the Quality Assurance Manager you oversee the execution and coordination of Tates quality and food safety agenda from raw material receiving through the manufacturing process and into warehousing. You will need to consistently assess and respond to issues of product quality and compliance with the primary purpose being to ensure a consistent high-quality product that meets Tates standards and delights the consumer. You are responsible for driving continuous quality improvement initiatives across the organization and must have a strong aptitude for both technical expertise and business acumen. Strong leadership including the ability to develop capability in teams is required.

Job Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with other departments creates and monitors Quality Control systems which assure that all in-process and finished goods meet established government Mondelez and internal specifications as well as being manufactured in accordance to all Food Safetymeasures.
  • Provides leadership and technical assistance to operations and maintenance by aggressively managing food safety and compliance systems instilling regulatory awareness andcommitment.
  • Performs fact-based assessments/audits of Manufacturing Systems ensuring that all records procedures processing packaging and equipment are in compliance with all federal state and other regulatoryrequirements.
  • Leads all internal and external auditing activities and follow-up. Assures the plant maintains compliance to externalstandards.
  • Ensures the required quality/regulatory training is maintained.
  • Lead the site to achieve the Quality goals and objectives and supports the development of the Quality Improvement Plan. Evaluate trends of key Quality measures identify root causes of deviations and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Assists in the identification and achievement of facility Quality KPIs through appropriatecorrective/preventativeactions and continuous improvementinitiatives.
  • Leverages quality systems to support operations in driving down sources of waste through the use of RCA tools and Statistical Process Control.
  • Implement effective programs to instill an error prevention and continuous improvement mindset in all colleagues (in support of Total Quality and ISO philosophies).
  • Ensure adequate support exists for necessary evaluation of raw materials finished products industrial hygiene studies and environmental sampling and testing.
  • Provides overall direction related to HACCP systems micro testing programs sanitation and pest control leveraging company functional experts for capability building.
  • Ensures all customer feedback including Consumer and Field Complaints is promptly investigated. Develops plans and controls to prevent recurrences and establish ongoing continuous improvement activities to deliver reductions in consumer complaints and ongoing process control improvements.
  • Designs and implements a people capability and development strategy focused on developing the teams technical leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Provide quality support for plant projects and initiatives in the manufacturing environment.

What you will bring

Quality and Food Safety Leadership including strong regulatory experience in addition to proven experience driving Quality and Food Safety culture.

Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the following:

  • Foundational knowledge of food manufacturing operations sanitation and maintenance; clear understanding how regulatory compliance and quality impacts each function of the business
  • Deep knowledge of compliance with FSMA HACCP and ISO-22000 (FSSC) or similar program.
  • Delivering risk-based food safety programs to drive commercial outcomes ideally within fast moving consumer goods environment.
  • Driving food safety strategy across the business providing operational observations and practical input that translates into significant business benefit.
  • Ability to engage and motivate site teams (operations maintenance sanitation) to execute quality initiatives and deliver strong results. Leverages excellent communication skills augmenting to the audience from hourly associate to senior executives
  • Engages key stakeholders in strategy alignment and implementation collaborating to complete the agenda by working effectively to influence across functions geographies and with internal and external partners.
  • Relentless curiosity and a continuous improvement mentality.
  • Building an internal network that allows for effective communication influencing and stakeholder engagement.

More about this role

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Quality Food Science Business Administration Engineering or related field required.
  • Certified in PCQI and HACCP

Job specific requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of work experience.
  • Minimum 8 years experience in field Production/Manufacturing; must be within the food or pharmaceutical industry with a strong preference for dairy or related industry.
  • Minimum 8 years experience directly managing food/drugs quality/safety and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
  • Position is full-time in-person and flexibility is required. Applicants must be available to work any shift including weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with known allergens such as: milk eggs nuts (tree nuts) wheat and soy is required
  • Core competency in strategy development and implementation demonstrating sustained results
  • Experience developing teams resulting in capability growth both in technical and interpersonal skill development
  • Demonstrated success in driving performance improvements across teams in complex environments along with strong proven leadership capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence peers to drive program execution
  • Excellent communication and change management skills that result in strong adaptation and cultural change
  • Solution-oriented problem solving ensuring actions are robust executable and sustainable
  • Experience with TPM or Il6S including management of the quality pillar strongly preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

The base salary range for this position is $122000 to $167750; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience skills education and addition to base salary this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
