Selawik Classroom Teacher 3rd Grade E-14-13

TITLE: Classroom Teacher

QUALIFICIATIONS:

1. Bachelors degree. Valid Alaska teaching certificate.
2. Minimum of five years teaching experience preferred
3. Experience with computers essential
4. Highly qualified in one core academic teaching area as defined by NCLB Legislation preferred.

REPORTS TO: Site Principals and Assistant Superintendent

SUPERVISES: Students and Aides

JOB GOAL: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature able and responsible young men and women.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time desinated.
2. Plans and provides a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students.
3. Writes daily lesson plans that include objectives and activities to support those objectives.
4. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to leaning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
5. Demonsrtates adequate control over student behavior.
6. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of district/site goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons units and to communicate these objectives to students.
7. Employs a variety of instructional techniques consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
8. Plans lessons that will reflect goals and objectives from the district curriculum guide.
9. The teacher selects develops and employs appropriate evaluative techniques with regard to impartiality consistency and objectivity.
10. Diagnoses the learning abilities of students on a regular basis seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
11. Takes all necessary and reasonabale precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
12. Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
13. Evaluates students a number of times to make an accurate appraisal at the end of the grading period.
14. Enters grades on a regular (at least weekly) basis.
15. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
16. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and cooperatively with other supervisors evaluates their job performance.
17. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
18. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
19. Complies with building district policy.
20. Maintains a positive working relationship with the school staff and community.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the NWABSD Board of Education.
190 Days beginning on or about August 10
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board policy.
