The General Ledger Accountant will maintain the Foundations general ledger by professionally applying accounting principles and practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles industry guidelines current law and Foundation policies and procedures. The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for maintaining and reconciling financial records on a daily monthly quarterly and annual basis to ensure the integrity accuracy and reliability of financial data in the Foundations accounting system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
General Accounting Duties - Perform monthly quarterly and annual reconciliation of general ledger accounts. This includes but is not limited to maintaining and updating subsidiary ledgers and accounting schedules preparing and posting journal entries for general ledger transactions ensuring adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal controls assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and compiling and preparing financial information for a variety of internal management and external use reports
Annual Tax Reporting - Assist in the preparation of the Foundations annual information and tax returns (Form 990 Form 990-T Form 1099-NEC Form 1099-MISC Form 1099-R Form W-2).
Audit Assistance - Assist in the preparation for and conduct of the Foundations independent audit including but not limited to confirmation preparation year-end schedules preparation variance analysis and financial statement footnote preparation.
Other Duties - Assist in communications and meeting preparation for the Foundations Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Advanced training in accounting or a related field and/or equivalent experience directly related to professional accounting auditing or preparing audited financial statements.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) .
- Demonstrated proficiency in automated accounting/financial systems and Microsoft applications including Word Excel and Access.
- Ability to work independently to gather analyze summarize and interpret financial data.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize manage and execute multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills are needed to interact with various constituents.
Additional Considerations:
- CPA or CPA eligible.
- Experience in nonprofit accounting principles and practices.
- Knowledge and experience working with relational databases.
