Job Summary
Role Summary
TheSenior Manager Cloud Operationsis responsible for leading daytoday cloud platform operations to ensureavailability reliability security and cost efficiencyacross Pfizers enterprise cloud environments. This role executes the operational strategy defined by the Director of Cloud Operations and translates it intoscalable repeatable and automationfirst operational practices.
The Senior Manager leads operational teams responsible forincident management service reliability operational automation and platform governance while partnering closely with Cloud Engineering Security and Application teams to ensure cloud platforms operate safely and efficiently at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Operations & Reliability
Own theoperational healthof assigned cloud platforms and services across AWS Azure and GCP including availability performance and recoverability
Lead24x7 operational support models including oncall rotations incident response and postincident reviews
ExecuteSREinspired practices including SLIs SLOs error budgets and operational KPIs
Act as theprimary escalation pointfor major incidents within scope ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder communication
Operational Governance & Automation
Driveautomationfirst cloud operations leveraging Infrastructure as Code configuration management and selfhealing patterns
Ensure operationalrunbooks standards and proceduresare created maintained and consistently followed
Partner with Cloud Engineering to ensureoperability supportability and resilience are embedded by design
Continuously improve operational maturity throughprocess optimization and tooling enhancements
Security Compliance & Risk
Ensure cloud operations comply withsecurity regulatory and audit requirements
Partner with Cybersecurity and Risk teams toremediate vulnerabilities and operational findings
Oversee patching vulnerability remediation and platform hardening activities for owned environments
Support audits and inspections by providingoperational evidence and controls
Financial & Capacity Management
Execute cloudcost governance (FinOps)practices including usage monitoring optimization initiatives and budget adherence
Supportcapacity planning and demand forecastingfor platforms and services
Provide regular reporting oncost efficiency utilization and optimization outcomesto leadership
People Leadership
Lead coach and developCloud Operations Managers and senior individual contributors
Build a culture ofoperational excellence accountability and continuous improvement
Support talent development performance management and succession planning within Cloud Operations
Foster strong collaboration across global and regional teams
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Information Technology Engineering or equivalent experience
7 yearsof experience in cloud infrastructure or operations roles
1-3 yearsof experience leading operational teams in a complex enterprise environment
Strong experience operatingmulticloud platforms(AWS Azure GCP) at scale
Proven background inincident management reliability engineering and operational governance
Experience working inregulated environments(e.g. GxP SOX or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementingSRE or ITSM modern operating models
Handson experience withInfrastructure as Codeand automation tooling
Familiarity withFinOps frameworksand cloud cost optimization practices
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across technical and nontechnical stakeholders
Experience operating inglobal matrixed organizations
Role Scope & Leveling Clarification
This role isone level below Director of Cloud Operations
Focus is onexecution and operational leadership not enterprisewide strategy ownership
Ownsplatform and service execution while strategy funding and global direction remain with the Director
Guides contractor managers and senior ICs rather than directors or multiple operational pillars
