The Career Counselor assists clients in developing and implementing comprehensive vocational rehabilitation programs that lead to engagement in employment skills training or educational activities. This role coordinates and provides pre-vocational and vocational services aligned with individualized client goals supporting overall recovery and self-sufficiency.

East House considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position candidates work experience education/training key skills internal peer equity as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Responsibilities
Conduct vocational assessments planning and counseling for clients.
Facilitate groups focused on career exploration job readiness time management
volunteerism educational planning and employment searches.
Integrate and coordinate vocational services with other rehabilitation and treatment
services.
Refer clients to appropriate internal and external education training and employment
opportunities.
Coordinate community activities including volunteer placements and employer site visits.
Promote the comprehensive array of East House vocational services.
Participate in planning and execution of the RIT Enrichment Program and related
fundraising efforts.
Maintain effective relationships with community service providers.
Maintain accurate and timely client records per regulatory and agency standards.
Track vocational outcomes through database management.
Other Duties
Follows all applicable policies federal and state laws and East House compliance standards.
Collaborates with the Office of Ethics Compliance & Quality to address non-compliance and document corrective actions.

Education & Experience
- Requirements
- Minimum Bachelors degree in human service related field and two years paid human service experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensure & Certification
- Required:
- NYS motor vehicle license safe driving record and availability of personal vehicle for work.
- Preferred but not required
- Licensure or certification in human services
- Qualified Mental Health Staff as defined by OMH Residential regulations required for work with OMH licensed programs.
Working Conditions/Work Environment
Traditional office environment. Occasionally subjected to pressure due to time demands. May have to travel to various program locations which may not be accessible for individuals with reduced mobility.
