National Intelligence Centre

The purpose of the National Intelligence Centre (NIC) is to support decision makers across all six drivers of demand: organised crime drugs mental health families youth alcohol and road policing as well as national security.

The Opportunity

You will join the National Intelligence Centre and work with a small team of geospatial experts who are delivering critical information across police and helping others to understand the value of geospatial mapping.

Our aim is to leverage the geographic component inherent in virtually all data to create a platform for capturing integrating and visualising information. Geospatial data is not only limited to mapping but also the basis for undertaking analysis used to create geographic models and data visualization for more accurate modelling and predictions of trends.

This role will be pivotal for delivering technical expertise and solutions

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design deliver maintain and enhance ArcGIS Enterprisebased GIS web solutions and enterprise-wide spatial services to support frontline operations and broader business needs.
  • Provide high-level geospatial operational and technical expertise and support across the organisation.
  • Work collaboratively with operational policing teams to deliver fitforpurpose spatial solutions.
  • Develop and deliver GIS training and user support materials.
  • Advise on establish and embed repeatable processes for key team functions identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support the Geospatial Manager in delivering operational projects and maintaining effective daytoday operations.
  • Administer maintain and continuously improve the ArcGIS Enterprise environment to meet policing and organisational requirements.
  • Provide geospatial support to investigations critical incidents and major events as required.
  • Apply specialist expertise in FME ArcGIS Enterprise ArcGIS Pro and Python scripting.
  • Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders partners and suppliers.
  • Deliver highquality spatial analysis operational project outcomes and cartographic products with a strong focus on customer service and stakeholder engagement.

Experience you will have:

  • High level of technical skills (must be highly capable in ESRI technologies with 5 years plus experience in ArcPro Enterprise AGOL and Mobile Field apps).
  • ETL automation experience with FME Form/Flow.
  • Experience with imagery and other remote sensing products (satellite Drone and LIDAR).
  • Proficiency in JavaScript HTML and CSS for GIS web development an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Python SQL and Arcade.
  • Relational database management skills and experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with a problem-solving approach and excellent judgement.
  • Top class communication and presentation skills both verbal and written.
  • Can do attitude and open to innovation and development.
  • Resilience and ability to think act and adapt at speed.
  • Solid understanding of Intelligence.

  • Current CPK at the rank of the vacancy you are applying for (Constabulary only).
  • For both Constabulary & Police Employees:
    • Agree to enrol in a leadership programme at the advertised level at a future date or
    • Have qualified under CEP or a previous Career Progression Framework at the level you are applying for.
  • The successful applicant must reside or be willing to relocate within the Wellington Region and be prepared to travel to Districts when needed.

NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years or:

Utu ā-tau Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $110425 and 136780 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
