CNC Router

The CNC Router Operator (Plastics) is responsible for setting up operating and maintaining CNC routing machines to cut and shape plastic materials such as acrylic polycarbonate PVC and other composites. This role ensures high-quality production while maintaining safety precision and efficiency standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC router machines to cut plastic materials per job specifications
• Load position and secure plastic sheets or components on the machine
• Read and interpret blueprints work orders and CAD drawings
• Adjust machine settings (speed feed rate tooling) based on material type and thickness
• Select appropriate cutting tools for plastics to prevent melting chipping or warping
• Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed for quality and accuracy
• Inspect finished parts using measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications
• Perform trimming deburring and finishing of plastic components
• Conduct routine machine maintenance and cleaning
• Troubleshoot minor issues and report major concerns to the supervisor
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience operating CNC routers or similar machinery preferred
• Familiarity with plastic materials (acrylic polycarbonate PVC etc.) is a plus
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
• Basic math and measurement skills
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods

Preferred Skills:

• Basic knowledge of CNC programming (G-code)
• Experience with CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD Fusion 360 or similar)
• Understanding of cutting speeds/feeds specific to plastics
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
