The Senior ITR Engineer - Core Gas Upgrades is a senior professional role that combines engineering project execution operations leadership and continuous improvement for core gas turbine and upgrades conversions modifications uprates across the global GE installed base.This role is responsible for both:
the technical execution of gas turbine upgrade projects from inquiry/proposal through installation and closeout and
operational excellence within the Engineering function through KPI management dashboard development process ownership quality improvement and adoption of Lean and AI-enabled tools.
The blend position requires a strong technical depth operational acumen and cross-functional collaboration mindset. The successful candidate coordinate across Engineering Operations Supply Chain Manufacturing Field Services Service Shops and Customers to deliver projects safely on schedule within budget and aligned with functional and business performance addition this role will play a key part in advancing Engineering operations by ensuring evolving KPIs receive continuous focus accelerating daily management maturity standardizing execution across core teams and driving corrective actions countermeasures and quality processes. The role also supports the transition of KPI focus areas including shifts such as ITO to OTR performance emphasis while enabling faster adoption of AI metrics automation and Lean practices to improve efficiency and reduce time spent in daily management activities.
This Senior Professional position requires high evaluative judgment advanced problem-solving capability and the ability to influence across a global matrixed cross-functional environment.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Engineering Project Execution
- Own the technical scope and execution forgas turbine upgrades conversions modifications uprates.
- Lead engineering execution frominquiry/proposal handoff through design manufacturing support installation and project closeout.
- Develop and manage engineering project schedules align milestones with project stakeholders and drive timely issue resolution to meet customer and business commitments.
- Define control review and approve engineering deliverables includingdrawings specifications bills of material (BOMs) FMIs technical instructions and other project documentation.
- Ensure robustconfiguration management revision control and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical and problem-solving support during project execution manufacturing sourcing field installation and service shop activities.
- Coordinate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure technical requirements are clearly communicated and executed effectively.
- Communicate scope status technical risks and mitigation plans to internal stakeholders and customers through clear written communication technical reviews and presentations.
- Support design reviews risk reviews project reviews and customer-facing technical discussions.
Operations Leadership and KPI Management
- Develop implement and maintainfunctional dashboards and KPIsthat support strategic and tactical decision-making.
- Drive continuous focus onevolving KPIs ensuring rapid adoption clear ownership and sustained execution across the organization.
- Standardize KPI reviews operating rhythms and management routines to drive common actions and consistent performance across all core teams.
- Use operational data and trend analysis to identify gaps prioritize actions and drive measurable improvements in delivery quality and productivity.
- Accelerate adoption ofAI-enabled tools automation analytics and Lean methodsin KPI management and operational processes to reduce manual effort and improve decision speed and quality.
Process Ownership and Quality
- Act as aprocess owner for Core group Quality including ownership or leadership support for processes related toNCR (Non-Conformance Reports)andFPY (First Pass Yield).
- Drive process discipline governance and continuous improvement within engineering quality systems and operational workflows.
- Partner with quality operations and engineering stakeholders to identify root causes implement corrective/preventive actions and improve process capability.
- Promote a culture ofsafety quality accountability and continuous improvementacross the Engineering function.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures business standards and customer requirements.
- Collaborate across Engineering Operations Manufacturing Supply Chain Sourcing Field Services Service Shops and Customers to ensure successful project and operational outcomes.
- Influence stakeholders across organizational and cultural boundaries in a global environment.
- Mentor fresh engineers and team members sharing technical knowledge operational practices and project execution discipline.
- Contribute to building a high-performing team culture focused on safety quality responsiveness and customer success.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree inEngineeringor a related engineering/science discipline.
- Minimum of16 years of engineering and/or field experienceongas turbines.
- Demonstrated experience intechnical project execution engineering or requisition/project engineering for power generation equipment or plant upgrades.
- Experience using operational metrics engineering processes and cross-functional coordination to drive execution outcomes.
- Willingness to traveldomestically and internationally as needed.

- Demonstrated ability to drivedaily management KPI adoption and performance accountability in a fast-paced engineering or operations environment.

- Experience acting as aprocess owner for engineering quality processes such asNCR FPY root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action systems.

- Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and drive change challenging the status quo to improve outcomes for GE and its customers.
- Strong systems thinking with understanding of interactions amonggas turbine HRSG steam turbine and balance-of-plant systemsin combined-cycle power plants.
- Working knowledge of power plant electrical systems includingexcitation systems LCI/static starting systems generator protection synchronization LV/MV switchgear and MCCs.
- Familiarity with plant control and communication systems includingDCS PLCs turbine controls and industrial communication networks.
- Experience withGE Gas Turbine product linesMLI/BOM structures andrequisition engineering processes.
- Priorfield engineeringcommissioning or outage support experience.
- Project management training or certification such asPMPis a plus.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to clearly explain technical scope risks and actions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
