Job Overview
This is an exciting time to be looking to join the States of Jersey Police. The journey from student officer to a substantive police officer is demanding and rewarding. There is an extensive training and tutorship programme hosted locally on all aspects of policing in Jersey.
The training is challenging and includes learning important aspects of law communications engagement and personal safety skills and an introduction to the partner agencies with whom we work. You are also expected to pass a fitness tests along with regular examinations.
The States of Jersey Police is a busy force consisting of almost 330 police officers and support staff. We have a strong commitment to equity and diversity both within the organisation and in the service we provide. We aim to employ a representative workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
The closing date for applications is 2nd June 2026. The application process is then as follows:
Shortlisted candidates will have some initial vetting carried out
Following this shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in the Police Initial Recruitment fitness and written tests.
Following this a further shortlist of candidates will then be invited to an Extended Assessment Day.
Successful candidates will then have formal vetting carried out
At this point successful candidates will be offered a contract as a trainee police officer with an official start date.
