Coffeyville Regional Medical Center or CRMC is a 25-bed non-profit critical access hospital serving Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma since 1949. The Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS)/Ambulance manages supervises and directs the administration and operation of CRMCs Emergency Medical Services. This Associate directs all staff operations business planning and budget development while ensuring emergency medical services are in compliance with professional standards state and federal regulatory requirements. The Director of EMS coordinates with city county state and federal officials and business partners to provide support and assistance during emergency situations and events including industrial HAZMAT medical coverage and EMS training.
JOB DUTIES:
- Assures emergency preparedness and coordinates emergency operations for CRMC staff patients and community
- Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and coordinates with FEMA and other federal agency support for disaster and emergency preparedness
- Assists in quality and compliance of all CRMC operations and staff readiness
- Assist with the education and training of employees
- Assists in maintaining a safe working environment at CRMC
- Perform vital signs including pulse ox; venipuncture IV placement (pediatric and adult) and phlebotomy; and access central lines including ports and PICC lines
- Maintain airways by BLS and ALS to include CPAP/BIPAP Intubation and subglottic airways
- Administer medications including IV PO IM Nebulizer and/or Nasal of all medications within the Paramedic scope of practice for pediatric and adult patients
- Complete initial assessments of patients in the admissions and waiting room
- Clean and secure wounds
- Respond to EMS calls with 3rd and 4th our personnel during high call volume in EMS or as extra personnel for transfers when needed and requested by the Director or Supervisor
- Start and monitor 12-lead EKGs
- Monitor and restock supplies
- Room and ambulance cleaning
- Serves as a member of the Code Team
- Conducts patient intake by asking patient questions about current symptoms medical histories and medication to provide physicians with a complete understanding of current medical needs
- Charting/documentation of medical records
- Various other tasks assigned by the physician on duty
- Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy
The Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS)/Ambulance assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients medical staff and the public
- Detail-oriented with proven ability in time management skills and working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to relate well with all levels of the hospital/facility and medical staff
- Ability to react calmly/effectively in emergency situations while working under pressure/stress
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to move position self consistently operate various types of equipment able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations as well as exerting in excess of 100 pounds occasionally or in excess of 50 pounds frequently or in excess of 20 pounds constantly
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate of an approved Paramedic program and successful completion of EMS State Board Exam required
- Current Kansas Paramedic Certification
- Current BLS and ACLS Certification
- PALS or Pediatric certification
- Current valid Kansas Drivers License
- Successful completion of Field internship required
- Successful completion of CRMC EMS Orientation required
- One-year hospital ED experience preferred
- 5-10 years emergency services experience as a Paramedic or above
- 3-5 years management experience
