Requirements:
Essential Functions
- In a loud audible voice without amplification present accurate historical information in an entertaining manner several times a work shift for an audience of up to 30 people.
- Portray historical character in costumed either based upon a real person or composited of real persons to entertain and teach or interpret local history.
- Study and rehearse the script to learn and memorize lines and cues as directed.
- Use props as directed.
- Must remain on the tour schedule when performing. Do not let the tour run short of over-scheduled time.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work independently and in groups over long periods of time within the scope of established rules and regulations.
- Ability to learn stage direction and memorize historical details provided in a scripted story and relay scripted story in an entertaining manner in front of an audience.
- Ability to be heard in a loud audible voice without amplification by an audience of up to 30 people.
- Ability to give a scripted tour in the time allowed.
- Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying taking the time to understand the points being made asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Strong interest in history is preferred.
- Bilingual or American Sign Language interpreter a plus
Other Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment background check and substance abuse testing
- Have a passion for helping people and making their San Diego experience a memorable one.
