Located within a vibrant Community Hub the Preschool supports the delivery of kindergarten programs to up to 330 children within the community and is staffed by approximately 30 teachers and support staff.

Working with support from the Team Leader to manage the day-to-day operations of an Early Childhood Service and ensure Council provides professional safe inclusive quality early childhood services within the region.

What youll be doing: 

  • Manage the daily operations of the service as a Nominated Supervisor for a large 5 room preschool program ensuring compliance with all legislative regulatory and Council requirements
  • Provide professional leadership and support to educators modelling best practice and Council values
  • Fulfil the role of Educational Leader guiding curriculum planning documentation assessment and reflective practice in line with EYLF/VEYLDF
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to families staff and key stakeholders
  • Oversee administrative functions including timesheets enrolment data records management and compliance documentation
  • Lead staff induction processes and support workforce planning to maintain staffing ratios
  • Support quality improvement assessment and rating processes including the Quality Improvement Plan and School Readiness Funding
  • Ensure child safety wellbeing confidentiality and ethical practice at all times

Educational Leader Responsibilities and Duties

  •  Lead the development and implementation of the educational program in the service
  •  Lead the team of educators in the development and delivery of effective and meaningful documentation of childrens learning in accordance with the service philosophy and the learning outcomes (EYLF/VEYLDF) .
  •  Participate in and maintain up to date training in relation to pedagogy and practice and implement these practices within the service and other educators
  •  Lead the team of educators to utilise a variety of teaching strategies including intentional teaching and inquiry in their daily work as well as guiding all educators in critical reflection of their program planning and practice and assessment of learning and goal setting for children
  • Lead the process of continuous improvement through actively participating in pedagogical visits by leadership staff and practice coaches.
  • Research best practice and innovative solutions for process improvement
  • Lead the Quality Assessment and Rating process and work collaboratively to develop and maintain the Quality Improvement Plan 
  • Consider how the program can be linked to the community by working with other community services and establish systems across the service to ensure there is continuity and strong practices in regard to transitioning to school
  • Liaising with Community Hub leaders to ensure alignment with the preschool and community services to support the local community. 

This role is ideal for a confident leader who is passionate about early learning collaboration and community-focused service delivery.

The skills and experience youll bring to the role: 

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting other staff to achieve defined outcomes and mentoring skills.  
  • Demonstrated leadership experience of at least 2 years.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the application of relevant legislation and regulatory framework relating to childrens services.   
  • Commitment to innovation in the provision of high quality integrated and inclusive early years services.  
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing systems procedures and programs.   
  • Demonstrated ability to gain co-operation from and communicate with a broad range of stakeholders.  
  • Demonstrated well developed written and oral communication skills including a high standard of customer service

Required Certifications & Qualifications: 

  • Relevant degree in early childhood development coupled with significant experience. (3 years plus teaching experience preferred). 
  • Current first aid anaphylaxis asthma and CPR training.  
  • Valid VIT registration.
