Staff Accountant

Purpose:

This positions primary role is to efficiently process all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to ensure financial accuracy as well as compliance to local group and GAAP/IFRS policies and standards.

Position Overview:

  • Work with Norian on all open issues.
  • GR/IR for all PO Items.
  • Review Weekly ACH and Wire check run execution.
  • Backup for JPM Positive Pay and ACH determinations.
  • Process check runs for all Tax Payment for property tax federal income tax on foreign workers etc.
  • Secure Foreign Currency Hedges send approval to Accounting Manager
  • Analysis of NA FX position to include currency hedging.
  • Prepare enter and post journal entries relating to the month end closing cycle in an accurate and timely manner approval for all MJEs and SODA.
  • Pull reports from ADP Post and validate bi-weekly payroll in SAP.
  • Prepare Monthly account reconciliations within 10 days of close for Balance Sheet Accounts.
  • Conduct monthly review of balance sheet recons with Plant Controller and Accounting Manager to ensure understanding and justification of account balances.
  • Key contact for SAP ARIBA and Alusta authorizations work with corporate purchasing to ensure training release strategy working with site purchasing.
  • Responsible for all Segregation of Duties (SODA) Conflicts Monitoring General Maintenance and Qtrly report out to Accounting Manager audit of mitigation controls re-write mitigations with conflicts.
  • Load Positive pay into JPM after check runs and responsibly for any positive pay exceptions.
  • Monthly Review of Benefit Allocations. JE Prep associated with Benefits and post into SAP. Ensure all benefits are paid. Reconciliation of all benefits to paycheck with HR.
  • Expense reporting management and processing. Ensuring adherence to company policy.
  • Intercompany confirmations with other Nexans units on a quarterly basis.
  • Assist Plant Controller with yearly internal and external audit prep and involvement.
    • File Sales and Use Tax Monthly for SC HI PA NY RI LA & CA.
    • Year end 1099 and W8BEN reporting.
    • Maintain vendor files to ensure 1099 reporting files out of SAP are accurate.
    • Support HR with year end review on expat and foreign workers to external tax consultants.
    • Maintain vendor files in SAP (Bank Instructions Tax Details Remittance Advice etc.)
    • Keeps records of all construction costs and process payments through the SAP system.
    • Actively partners with other key functional areas to ensure all costs are captured correctly and ensures proper classification between:

    Capital Expenditures

    Operating Expenditures

    Government Incentives

    Requested Qualifications

      • 5-7 years of accounting experience
      • Bachelors degree from an accredited college required; focus in Accounting/Finance preferred
      • Must be proficient with Excel and other Microsoft software products
      • SAP knowledge a MUST
      • Dependable self-starter with ability to work independently with minimum supervision to complete job tasks.
      • Ability to effectively communicate information in English both verbally and in writing
