Procurement Manager

Job Summary
The Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that support the companys operational goals while maintaining cost-effectiveness quality and timely delivery. This role oversees the day-to-day procurement functions vendor relationships and inventory management and directly supervises Purchasing team members to ensure efficient and accurate purchasing practices.
- Develop implement and manage procurement strategies to support production schedules and operational needs.
- Supervise and provide leadership to the Purchasing team including task oversight performance management and development.
- Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure the best terms pricing and quality.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers; monitor supplier performance.
- Analyze purchasing trends costs and vendor performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Work cross-functionally with departments such as Production Engineering and Finance to align purchasing strategies with company objectives.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the warehouse or production to optimize stock levels without over-purchasing.
- Ensure compliance with company policies industry regulations and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
- Manage procurement reporting including metrics on cost savings supplier performance and inventory turns.
- Resolve any procurement-related issues or delays with urgency and professionalism.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Business Administration or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5 years of progressive experience in purchasing procurement or supply chain roles.
- 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of procurement practices supply chain processes and vendor management.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make sound business decisions.
- Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel; ability to generate and interpret procurement reports.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of cost savings and supplier performance improvement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across departments and with external vendors.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of contract terms and applicable compliance regulations.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements for procurement efficiency.
- Comfortable with strategic planning as well as hands-on day-to-day purchasing activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises the Purchasing team including task delegation training coaching and performance evaluation.
- Ensures adherence to company purchasing policies and procedures within the purchasing function.
- Monitors workload and supports prioritization to maintain efficiency and accuracy.
- Provides guidance and development opportunities to enhance the performance and growth of direct reports.
- Collaborates with leadership to align procurement staffing needs with company objectives
Travel
- This role requires minimal travel primarily for training purposes. Travel will be limited and scheduled in advance.
