The Traffic Signal Technician Lead plays a key role in keeping our transportation systems running safely and this leadership position you will guide and support a team of Traffic Signal Technicians overseeing their daily operations and ensuring highquality work in the installation maintenance and repair of traffic signal equipment.

We Require
Four years of work experience in traffic signal maintenance repair and/or intelligent transportation system and or signal system operation
High school diploma or GED
A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
Successful candidates must currently possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona drivers license by the time of hire.
Must obtain OSHA-approved Ariel Lift Certification within one year of hire
Must obtain Level II Electronic/Electrical IMSA Certification and Level I Roadway Lighting Certification within two years of hire

Job Contributions
Oversee the work quality of Traffic Signal Technicians
Assist the Traffic Signal Maintenance Manager with daily assigned staff activities
Coordinate staff schedules and assign staff their vehicles and equipment
Coordinate assigned projects and repairs with traffic signal technicians contractors and other agencies as needed
Attend project meetings pre-construction meetings and other related agency meetings and provide guidance when appropriate
Electronically locate (Blue Stake) underground wiring for contractors and coordinate signal issues with the contractors and project inspectors
Respond to constituent inquiries through the Countys online tracking system and investigate and/or respond appropriately
Review plans for Transportation Information Projects (TIPS) for material quantities and monitor warehouse inventory
Analyze daily maintenance tasks and trouble reports through asset management software for possible malfunction trends and/or data entry deficiencies
Prepare the required Risk Management paperwork for the Maricopa County Department of Transportation/Loss Control
Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally 10 - 25 pounds frequently or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly. The technician is expected to be able to lift and move traffic signal heads of up to 50 pounds without assistance to pull cabling in conduit runs up to 200 feet to remove and install junction boxes of up to 45 pounds and to assist other technicians in the lifting and installation of signal poles weighing up to 150 pounds
Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures wetness/humidity respiratory hazards and noise and vibration. The traffic signal technician works independently outdoors in temperatures ranging from 20F to 120F including rain and overnight shifts. They handle tasks such as climbing 12-foot ladders operating aerial lifts up to 35 feet high driving up to 50 miles walking 500 feet to inspect conduits and mark utilities and accessing junction boxes for wiring. They must stand and/or kneel for 30 minutes or more while repairing equipment. The technician shall also be skilled at handling high-pressure situations at malfunctioning intersections and accident scenes with heavy traffic. They may work overnight during storms and are comfortable with voltages up to 120VAC in signal cabinets and heads

Laptop computer and tablet basic construction hand tools working in and around an aerial bucket truck and ladders.
Protective Equipment Required
Hard hat steel-toe boots vest safety glasses FR-rated clothing and safety gloves.
