Job Summary

General Job Duties

  • Programs and manages software projects supports both the manufacturing (plant floor) and business (office) departments.


Specific Job Duties

  • Analyzes customers needs for automated information.
  • Writes code to meet customers needs.
  • Provides direction to outside programmers / software suppliers.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Participates in evaluation of new business related software.
  • Manages upgrades to existing software programs.
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record.
  • Participates in resolution of computer system problems (hardware or software) as the need arises.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Participates in department meetings.
  • Completes documentation of activities as required.
  • Submits cost reduction and innovation ideas.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.


Skills/Experience Required

  • Required: Programming experience in a professional setting
  • Preferred: Experience with the following: Visual Basic Progress Windows XP/7Lotus Notes.
  • Preferred: Experience leading to knowledge of manufacturing systems.
  • Preferred: Experience with wireless devices (scanners printers etc.).
  • Must have good problem solving skills. Must have good math skills.
  • Must have excellent computer skills.
  • Must work well with others. Must have good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and have a high tolerance for stressful situations.
  • Must have strong understanding of business systems.


Educational Requirements

  • Required: B.S. in Computer Science Electrical Engineering MIS or equivalent
  • In special circumstances candidates who have not met the required education but have substantial manufacturing work experience that is applicable to the job may be considered.



Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to at least meet the physical demands as defined by the current production requirements and the jobfunction evaluation. See job function evaluation in the Occupational Nurses office for more details.
  • Office environment. May spend some time in manufacturing environment using normal PPE and safety precautions.
