Description of Work

This position works closely with other DHHS Divisions other state agencies community partners and cross system stakeholders to identify and develop policies and programs that advance the Divisions goals across the behavioral health crisis continuum. It provides strategic leadership to internal and external planning efforts ensuring alignment with state and federal expectations for crisis response systems.

The position leads coordination of crisis related grant and funding opportunities including identifying available opportunities facilitating application development ensuring timely submission and managing initial implementation activities until permanent staff or structures are in place.

The role represents the Division on internal DHHS and external committees work groups and collaborative initiatives related to crisis services suicide prevention and system transformation. It provides clinical and administrative supervision coaching and mentoring to staff engaged in developing monitoring and implementing behavioral health crisis services. The position also provides strategic leadership for clinical deliverables and system quality improvements in partnership with internal teams and statewide stakeholders.

  • Deep knowledge of the behavioral health system in North Carolina particularly mental health and crisis services
  • Strong understanding of Medicaid clinical coverage policies
  • Familiarity with national behavioral health policy trends and clinical best practices Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations impacting mental health care delivery
  • Demonstrated leadership in system-level policy program implementation and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to supervise coach and develop a team of subject matter experts
  • Excellent communication skills with diverse audiences including public officials providers and people with lived experience
  • Strong collaboration planning and strategic thinking skills

This position is 100% federally funded.
