Occupational Therapist (Part-time Temp Position)

Job Summary
Gillette Childrens is seeking a pediatric occupational therapist to work at our St. Paul main hospital campus location. The position is a part-time (16 hours per week) temporary position from June to October 2026. The successful candidate will work primarily in our outpatient setting and secondarily provide inpatient coverage as needed. Purpose of Position:
Provides direct and indirect family centered therapy services for patients to increase functional abilities independence and community integration. Contributes to department program and service teams to assure achievement of desired outcomes.
Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however in all positions serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patients condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams.
Pay & Benefits Information:
The hourly wage for this opportunity is $34.65 to $52.00 with a median wage of $43.32/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience education certification & licensure and internal equity.
Core Responsibilities and Duties:
- Completes an evaluation utilizing principles of family-centered care.
- Implements a therapy care plan utilizing principles of family-centered care.
- Completes necessary administrative and procedural tasks in a timely manner.
- Completes training in essential job competencies.
- Effectively engages in competency planning development and implementation including maintenance to ensure clinical excellence.
Qualifications:
Required
- PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE/REGISTRATION
- Occupational Therapy State License
- Current certification in CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association) or must obtain certification within 90-days of hire.
Preferred
- NBCOT strongly preferred for Occupational Therapists
- Knowledge: transition from pediatric to adult health and rehabilitation care and of rehabilitation practice for adults with Childhood onset disabilities.
- Pediatric experience strongly preferred in Burnsville Minnetonka Maple Grove and St. Paul; desirable at Phalen Adult Clinic. Experience working with adults with childhood onset disabilities strongly preferred at Phalen Adult; desirable in Burnsville Minnetonka Maple Grove and St. Paul.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of child growth and development rehabilitation theory and practice with a wide variety of childhood onset diagnoses and related considerations including anatomy and neurology emotional behavior factors family needs and issues community transition and equipment.
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Ability to function as an effective team member
- Competency in occupational therapy evaluation treatment and related family/community education and planning for transition to community services.
