NLCS High School Assistant Diving Coach

Location: Bedford North Lawrence High School
Reports To: Head Swim/Dive Coach and Athletic Director
Position Overview
The High School Assistant Diving Coach supports the head coach in leading and developing the high school diving program. The assistant coach works with student-athletes to build diving fundamentals technique confidence safety awareness sportsmanship and competitive readiness. This position plays an important role in fostering a positive team environment while helping student-athletes grow both athletically and personally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting diving practices for student-athletes.
- Provide instruction in diving fundamentals technique body control safety and competition preparation.
- Support student-athletes in improving diving skills confidence and understanding of the sport.
- Assist with preparing divers for meets and competitions including lineup planning and event readiness.
- Attend and help supervise practices meets team events and other related activities including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Promote sportsmanship discipline respect and a positive team culture.
- Emphasize and maintain safety standards appropriate to diving instruction and supervision.
- Support the academic success and well-being of student-athletes by encouraging appropriate balance and accountability.
- Assist with inventory care and organization of equipment and other program materials.
- Help coordinate communication logistics and operational needs related to the diving program.
- Ensure compliance with school athletic department conference and IHSAA expectations policies and procedures.
- Model professionalism and appropriate conduct with students families staff officials and the community.
- Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the head coach or athletic director.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in diving and/or swimming preferably at a competitive level.
- Coaching experience is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of diving technique rules safety expectations and athlete development.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students parents staff and administration.
- Ability to motivate and support student-athletes in a positive manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching staff.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe inclusive and supportive environment for students.
Requirements
- Must meet all district and IHSAA requirements for coaching assignments.
- Must complete all required trainings certifications and clearances.
- Must successfully pass all required background checks.
- Must follow all school corporation policies procedures and expectations.
